	:	The establishment of the independent State of Israel, by proclamation of the National
		Provisional Council on the 15th of May 1948, was the last link in the chain of suffering and hope
		whish characterized the path of our peoplw since it was exiled from his land and removed from
		its soil two tousand years ago.
		This proclamation also marked the termination of the struggle of the Hebrew Yishuv in Eretz-Israel for
		national independence, a struggle which began in the days of "Bilu" and "Hashomer" and became
		steadily more intensive with the successive stages of immigration, reaching its culmination in the
		years of the Holocaust, whith came upon our people during the Second World-War, and the period
		following it during which the gates of the country were closed to te survivors of Nazi perscution.
